Sads était un groupe Japonais post-punk et glam-rock formé en 1999. Le groupe a fait ses débuts avec le single "Tokyo". Le groupe a publié neuf singles et quatre albums avant sa dissolution en 2003.

Sads a été formé par Kiyoharu, Le chanteur de la dissolution Kuroyume, En mai 1999 et, en même temps formé son propre label "Full Face". Leur première tournée live a eu lieu dans le Royaume-Uni par opposition à Japon. Kiyoharu a dit que la décision de tournée internationale dès le début était de tester la capacité Sads à "la concurrence mondiale".

Leur premier album, Sad Blood rock'n'roll, a été une continuation de la nu-punk et le rock garage des os de la dernière Kuroyume album, Tire-bouchon. Sads finalement plongé en plus glam-rock et territoire post-punk que leurs rejets progressé. Sads, comme Kuroyume, étaient connus pour leurs performances live de haute énergie. Certains des jeux de groupes allait durer plus de trois heures et demie. Leur batteur, lors d'une des tours, ont souffert de paralysie du nerf de jouer presque tous les soirs sur les visites consécutives qui a duré plus d'un an.

Leur fanclub officiel s'appelle "Rubbersole".

Sads relancé en avril 2010 dans le cadre Avex Group, et la sortie de leur sixième album studio de la longueur en Juillet. Ils ont également effectué leur premier ressuscité vivre le 1er mai à la Budoukan Nippon à Tokyo, faisant allusion à d'autres spectacles.

Sads were a Japanese post-punk and glam-rock band formed in 1999. The band made its debut with the single "Tokyo". The band released nine singles and four albums before its disbandment in 2003.

Sads was formed by Kiyoharu, vocalist of the disbanded Kuroyume, in May 1999 and at the same time formed his own record label "Full Face". Their first live tour was held in the United Kingdom as opposed to Japan. Kiyoharu has said that the decision to tour internationally from the very beginning was to test Sads' ability to "compete worldwide".

Their first album, Sad Blood Rock'n'Roll, was a continuation of the bare-bones punk and garage rock from the last Kuroyume album, Corkscrew. Sads eventually delved more into glam-rock and post-punk territory as their releases progressed. Sads, as Kuroyume, were known for their high energy live performances. Some of the bands sets would last for over three and a half hours. Their drummer, during one of the tours, suffered from nerve paralysis from playing almost every single night on consecutive tours that lasted over a year.

Their official fanclub is called "Rubbersole".

Sads relaunched this April 2010 under Avex Group, and are releasing their 6th full length studio album in July. They also performed their first resurrected live on May 1st at the Nippon Budoukan in Tokyo, hinting at further shows.

1999 年1月29日に黒夢が無期限活動停止。黒夢のボーカルであった清春が 黒夢活動停止後すぐさま始動させたのがこのSADSである。バンド名は清春が敬愛する日本のロックバンド「THE MODS」 にあやかったもの。ボーカルの森山達也にもバンド名について事前交渉し、快諾を得ている。その年の7月にシングル「TOKYO」でデビュー、 オリコン初登場2位を記録する。2000年、ドラマ『池袋ウエストゲートパーク』の主題歌だった4thシングル「忘却の空」がロングヒットを記録。同年6月に発表したセカンドアルバム『BABYLON』でオリコン初登場1位を獲 得し人気の高さをみせつけた。2001年にレコード会社を東芝EMIからBMGファンハウス）に移籍、2002年は インディーズでの活動を経てユニバーサルミュージックと契約。

2003 年にベストアルバム｢GREATEST HITS｣を発売した後は満園英二脱退のためSADSのドラム探しをしながらソロ活動をしてSADSを再開させるつもりが、2004年に ギターの坂下たけとものFULLFACE退社に伴う事実上の脱退により無期限の活動休止となる。

その後SADSの未発表曲音源がアレンジされたものや一部分を使われた曲などが清春のソロ作品として発表される。また清春の著書・雑誌のインタ ビューで既に過去のものとして扱われている現状を見る限り、バンドは事実上解散したものと思われていた。

しかし2010年1月29日、清春が自身のブログで活動再開を表明、同時にオフィシャルサイト及びMyspaceをオープンした。
